Visa and Passport Requirements

European Union, European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland

Citizens of EU member states, European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland do not need a visa for entering the Republic of Austria.

  • List of the countries:
    Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein.

Valid Passport or ID Card: They can enter Austria with a valid passport or national ID card. The document should be valid for the duration of their stay and at least 90 days after their intended departure from Austria.

USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom

Valid Passport: Citizens from these countries don’t need a visa for touristic travel, visiting friends & family or business travel (without gainful work in Austria) for up to 90 days in the Schengen area within a rolling 180-days-period and can enter Austria with a valid passport

Nationals of other countries – Schengen Visa C (short stay visa)

Nationals of other countries might require a visa in order to enter the Schengen Area or the Austrian territory. For specific entry requirements, it is advisable to check the downloadable paper provided by the Federal Ministry Republic of Austria.

Visa Requirement: Citizens from these countries should apply for a Schengen visa at the consulate of the country they intend to visit. The processing time of an admissible Schengen visa application should not exceed 15 calendar days. If further checks are necessary, the processing time may increase to 45 calendar days. You will need to provide the following documents as part of your application: Proof of your travel arrangements, including hotel reservation, flight reservation, and event ticket.

Vienna Airport

Vienna Airport is the main airport serving Austria’s capital city, Vienna. There are three terminals in Vienna: Terminal 1, Terminal 1A and Terminal 3. From Terminal 1 you can reach Gates B, C and D and from Terminal 3 you can reach Gates F and G.

Public Transportation in Vienna

Vienna’s public transport includes Ground Transport (buses, trams, and trolleybuses) and the Underground (U-Bahn).

In Vienna there’s a fee-based short-term parking zone regulation in the city.

Parking in Vienna is only possible for residents with a parking ticket or “parking sticker” Mon-Fri 09:00 to 22:00.
