Beyond Quick Wins In SEO

“We must not think about diets or hacks in SEO, but more of a structured plan.”

Sebastian Prohaska is not a fan of the quick-win mentality that dominates digital marketing. As a keynote speaker at SERP Conf. Vienna 2025 and founder of the Vienna-based agency “ithelps | Online Marketing Agentur”, he’s advocating for a fundamentals-based approach that mirrors principles found in sustainable lifestyle choices.

“Quick wins are like crash diets and also don’t last,” Prohaska stated during his recent interview with David Carrasco Pamies, SERP Conf’s brand ambassador. This comparison is surprising, but with a lot of common sense if you think carefully about it, right? Sustainable SEO success requires the same discipline and long-term thinking that is also a trait of effective personal wellness.

The Crash Diet Problem in SEO

“Quick wins are like crash diets and also don’t last,” Sebastian Prohaska stated, highlighting how short-term thinking puts the long-term success in both contexts into jeopardy. The leader, who follows a vegan lifestyle and sustainability (driving an electric car), sees direct parallels: “A healthy lifestyle and a healthy SEO strategy are nearly the same.”

Just like SERP Conf. /Vienna and Sofia/ he is preaching to professionals to forget about “growth hack” mentality that promises rapid results through tactical maneuvers rather than strategic foundation-building. The managing director and founder of “ithelps | Online Marketing Agentur”, advocates for “clear routines and focus on the fundamentals” as the path to sustainable outcomes.

The crash diets typically result in weight regain and metabolic damage, SEO tactics focused on immediate ranking improvements often lead to algorithm penalties and long-term visibility loss. Prohaska advocates for “structured plans” rather than reactive implementations, positioning SEO success as “the cumulative result of consistent decisions” rather than dramatic interventions. “We should be thinking about the healthy lifestyle because this is the choice we make. And we must not think about diets or hacks in SEO, but more of a structured plan …”

This positions SEO success (and can be applied in any other spheres) as a sum of consistent decisions and not of a pile of tactics (some shady but working, some not so much).

Proactive Integration of Emerging Technologies

The fundamentals-first approach doesn’t mean avoiding innovation and being “scared” of using AI as a tool. Instead, it involves thoughtful integration of new developments into existing processes. “What should we do. How can we integrate that into our processes or our daily doing?” Prohaska asked, leading the listener towards the conclusion that AI should be implemented to solve every possible crisis.

He strongly supports proactive behaviour in everyday tasks — “we don’t wait until a problem shows up.” Instead, he advises everyone to quickly evaluate and implement new approaches while maintaining core strategic consistency — whether something is up now or will happen in the future.

Organizational Health Mirrors Personal Health

When asked about his work with his agency, Sebastian explained that everything we do (business or lifestyle) is similar and can be transferred between sectors. He also talked about how systematic approaches are used in his organization to maintain consistency across all 25 team members. The emphasis on SOPs and continuous process refinement reflects the same principles that guide sustainable personal wellness practices.

“Health is sustainability and long-term energy. And SEO, I think, is nearly the same. Or (also) leadership,” the expert noted, suggesting that organizational health requires the same attention to fundamentals that can be seen in personal wellness approaches.

Vienna’s Strategic Advantage

Operating from Vienna provides Prohaska’s agency with access to diverse European markets while maintaining lower operational costs than major metropolitan areas. This geographic advantage supports the long-term thinking that characterizes his approach. We also chose Vienna as the second home for our event (after Sofia) for the same substantial value and the lack of superficial networking.

Prohaska’s participation as a panelist demonstrates how our conference prioritizes depth over breadth, focusing on actionable strategies and knowedge rather than theoretical discussions.
